Picture Keeper Saves Your Important Memories *review and giveaway*

This day and age everything seems to be reliant on computers. I know that I am on mine close to 8 hours a day and it is where I do a majority of all my writing and storing of just about everything. Since we are smack in the middle of the digital age when it comes to cameras and taking pictures, it is only natural that you are storing them on your computer. When it comes to backing up images on your computer I bet a lot of us fail miserably.
I take tons and tons of pictures of the boys and I will have to sheepishly admit, that I don’t have too many of them hanging on my walls. Let’s face it in the digital age of picture taking, we all get lazy and get all too comfortable with the idea that we have them stored somewhere on our hard drive. The reality of it is, that, hard drives fail and ultimately put you at risk for losing all of your precious memories. My husband has a server in which he keeps a lot of our important files and photos on, but even then, I like to keep a disk or something that holds my pictures in a safe location far away from the computer. Anything can happen and knowing that I have some alternate location for storing my photos eases my mind.
Up until now, there really wasn’t an easy way to gather all of my pictures on my computer. I store all of my photos in different locations on my hard drive. I have photo files dedicated to reviews that I do here, my photography business stuff is stored in another file, and the pictures of my boys are in another. So everything is sort of all over, and wouldn’t it be nice to just be able to have a device that does all the work for you and gathers all the pictures on your computer, organizes them, and wahlah, you have them all together?
Well now there is a simple solution, and what I like to call my magical anti-stress device, called the Picture Keeper. I was recently given a Picture Keeper to try and I am very impressed! The Picture Keeper is a little USB flash drive that creates a backup of your images simple by plugging it in your computer and clicking the “start backup” button. Then it works its magic and finds all images with jpg extensions on the computer. If you wish to backup other images with a different extension there are advanced option to where it can save additional file types. The folders and sub-folders are copied just as they are on you computer! And it gets even better. If you have multiple computers, which I do, you can just plug it in on the next computer and do the same thing. There is no special setting, and Picture Keeper does the work. When you want to go back in and update your files and do another backup, you don’t have to remember what files you have or haven’t gotten because the Picture Keeper will do that all for you as well. Do they make husbands like this? LOL
Being someone who takes a lot of pictures and in the photography business, I am always conscious of the fact that I have so many pictures and that computers do fail, and having some other form of a back up is critical. The Picture Keeper is nice because I can set up a few different backups and store a few of these flash drives in various locations. I would recommend getting several, and keeping one in your home, giving one to a trusted family member to hang on to, and maybe keeping one in another location. This way you have multiple back ups in case something happens with your home then you have all your memories preserved. Just to see how it worked, I plugged it into my laptop and let it go. Later when I did a backup on my main computer with all my photos, it was just as simple.
ABOUT PICTURE KEEPER
Inventor Matthew Stanchie knew there had to be a better way to backup digital images. Despite working
for Hewlett-Packard, the thought of backing up his personal photos gave him a headache, and he could
only image what others without a background in computers went through. So, he created a user-friendly
program that automates the task (making sure to get the approval of an evaluator from his target
demographic—his wife.) Picture Keeper plugs into any PC, including Macs, and copies all images with
one click. With Picture Keeper, it’s a snap to save.
Picture Keeper is available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB sizes online at www.picturekeeper.com.
I was amazed at how fast all my files were backed up and how easy it was to use. Anything that can make my life easier, is a huge plus. The Picture Keeper is so awesome that Dr. Toy awarded them with a Best Vacation Product for Summer 2009 Award. I definitely give The Picture keeper the mom seal of approval and I applaud it’s ease of use. It isn’t a complicated gadget and yet it is worth a million dollars if something ever happens to your photos. Picture Keeper retails for 8GB ($39.99) and 16GB ($59.99). The price is worth it when you consider how much it would be if you lost all of your photos!
Would you like to win a Picture Keeper of your very own??? DoubleBugs is giving away an 8GB Picture Keeper to one lucky reader.

house burned down in 98 and lost all my sons pics
I am having a daughter in 2 weeks and want to be prepared this time!
I can’t imagine losing my family pictures forever. I would be heartbroken if that would ever happen….
Thankfully I have not yet lost any photos. However, I do have them stored on an online site that while currently free, I am fairly certain that down the road they will either charge for the storage or limit the amount and then I will need another solution.
I would like it because I never print any of my pictures off, at least this way I would look at them
losing and not having backup
I think about if we had a flood how on Earth I’d save my photos, they’re not organized or in one place.

I haven’t lost my photos, but we have been very close to a couple tornadoes, and I was scrambling around trying to find all my pictures to take in the basement with me. I definitely need this! Thanks!

i would like a picture keeper to be able to keep all my fav memories!!:) this is a great invention!
It would break my heart to lose all my family pictures. I would love to have a backup plan. Thanks!
A few years ago, I contracted a Trojan that wiped out all of my data…pictures included…I was crushed. Those photos are gone forever. The Picture Keeper would be an ideal way to prevent this from happening again and to be able to take my photos with me wherever I go.
Thank you. 🙂
I would like to have a Picture Keeper because it would do 3 things–be a safety mechanism so they wouldn’t be lost in a computer crash, make them portable from one computer to another, and free up space on the computer.
My computer is getting pretty noisy, and I would hate to lose my vacation pics.
I grabbed your button.
I have so many important pictures, graduations birthdays etc. I would hate to lose any. I have lost a few photos and that was frustrating so I definitely need to store them better.
I have moved several times over the past several years and keeping up with my boxes of photos is difficult
I would love this , any picture on my computer that I have saved would break my heart to lose.
I don’t even know if I have them saved the right way, I am a computer dunce, but I am trying to learn. As you can see, this would be a big help to me
Thanks for the contest 🙂
I’d hate to lose my photos. I rarely have any printed and this is my children’s lifetime memories.
My son spills something on the laptop and it kills all the good stuff on there.
This would be a great backup.

We had so many problems with our previous computer that we lost every picture we had on there- and we had a ton! I don’t want to make the same mistake again.
It would be wonderful to have a Picture Keeper because then all my treasured pictures would be safe!
My computer is SUPER SUPER slow due to all of my pictures being on it…I also have tons of CDs with pictures stored on them and its so hard to have to look through all of the cds to find ONE picture!

I have lost photos before and it WAS a nightmare. Unfortunately I’m not very computer savvy and this sounds easy enough for even ME to use. It would be a great prize. Thanks.
I don’t ever want to lose any of my pics of friends and family who are not longer here. It would just destroy me to not have those pics.
I would hate to lose all of my son’s pictures and the future pictures of my daughter due in 2 weeks! I rarely print them out but love looking at how little my son used to be.

I would love to have a picture keepr because I have so many photos on my laptop and I have nightmares that some day I will lose them all if my computer crashes.
i have pictures from when i went to Peru on my mission trip i would be devastated if i lost them, i could really use this to back up all my pictures over the years
my sister’s house burned. she lost most of her possessions and original photos. but she had them backed up in a computer at her office.thank heaven for back-up.
My non-tech savvy parents have tons of pics on their pc. This would be a great way I could back them up and make sure they don’t lose a single one.
I have so many memories of my 20’s, growing up and losing them would be heart breaking to me. I lost pictures from HS and still get really bummed out when I think about it-such good times on film now gone.

We had our last computer totally fry in an electrical storm. The surge protector failed on us and we lost EVERYTHING on that computer. We got a new computer but have been saving to CDs – which is a PAIN in the butt. You never are 100% sure you saved all the new ones, they take forever to find and if we would have to transfer computers again it would take a long time to re-load them!
It would be just awful to lose all my pictures; they’re irrecplaceable. Pictures of my grandkids’ birthdays & holidays, not to mention pictures of my elderly parents.
Losing pictures of the exes would be a bit hit. Not like I’m friendly with any of them to take some more.
i need a backup plan
Our old computer crashed about 5 years ago and we tried to salvage what we could but we lost about a year worth of pictures that we had been saving on the computer. BOO!

Now that we use a digital camera, we don’t print most of our photos. That doesn’t mean that I want to lose the images, though, and I’m not willing to rely on a single copy on the hard drive. I’d love this backup system!

I had a scare recently – my computer got dropped (laptop) and broken. ALL of my picture files were on that PC – and weren’t backed up. thankfully, the guy at the computer shop was able to salvage them off my hard drive – but I was terrified! ALL of the pictures I have of my kids were on there! I definately need to start backing up! Thanks for the chance to win!
http://twitter.com/aimee_irene/status/2593793195
We had a home break-in and the laptop was stolen. Thank goodness we had all the pictures of the kids on an external hard drive that the robbers overlooked! But who knows? They could have easily taken that too. I’d feel better having something small that could be kept with me when I’m away.
My absolute worst nightmare was when my son was less than one years old. I had over two thousand pictures stored on my computer when a virus attacked my computer. It literally burned my computer before my eyes and the entire room was filled with smoke. I really wasn’t concerned about the computer because material things could always be replaced. I took my computer to a specialist, but no luck. In the end I lost over 2,000 pics which are priceless to me. My most valued possessions (not family of course) are my photos. I treasure those! So I could certainly use this wonderful Picture Keeper!

My worst nightmare is that my hard drive is shot and that I have lost everything! This has happened only once. Luckily, my DH is a ‘tech support’ type person. He spent 2 weeks retrieving my important things, ie., my pictures. I love him to death! What a sweetie! He said there was no service out there that would have taken the time to do what he did. I would love to have a picture frame for all my pics! Thanks so much for this contest!
Worst thing that ever happened to me was I had about 1 gig full of pictures of myself, my nephews, nieces and the rest of the family that my 10 year old niece had taken. My worst nightmare actually just happened a few days ago. We had left the house and i left my computer on as i do many times while we’re gone. Well, what i believe happened was that my cat got all over my keyboard and seriously changed something or that it was while getting a windows update. either way we came home that evening, i shut of the computer and thought everything was fine. Well the next day, i started my pc up, and nothing worked, as soon as everything loaded up it would freeze, i was unable to get into any settings at the beginning screen or anything. Needless to say a few days ago, i had to restore my entire computer without being able to first save anything! including pics, on my pc ;(
