Dominos and Green Graffiti Team Up! *giveaway*
Dominos pizza is partnering up with GreenGraffiti, a company that will go around New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, adding “green graffiti” to the cities on behalf of Dominos. It’s definitely“green”, and in fact, it actually is good. GreenGraffiti is creating graffiti in those cities by power-washing their graffiti onto streets and sidewalks, essentially cleaning the streets. I think this is a really great idea and not only that Green Graffiti participates in a water harvesting campaign giving back to people in need of drinking water.
How Does Green Graffiti Work?
GreenGraffiti® is an environmentally friendly form of outdoor advertising with a clear message; clean is green. GreenGraffiti® is completely carbon neutral, is one of the first companies in the world to compensate for our water footprint and contributes in a unique way to a healthier environment. That is why we can say with a clear conscience: the more GreenGraffiti® the better.
With the help of a template and a high pressure water sprayer an advertising message is cleaned out of the dirt. The result is a high impact message and a cleaner street.
You can read more about Dominos and this great project here.
Here’s The Deal and How You Can Get Free Pizza!
If anyone in these participating cities can find the graffiti and take their picture in front of it, all they need to do is email that picture to Dominos and they get themselves a quick/easy gift card.
“The first 250 people to email pr@dominos.com and submit a photo of them with a Green Graffiti® sidewalk Domino’s logo will receive a $15 Domino’s gift card, good for a Domino’s American Legends pizza.”
Do you want to be part of the free pizza action? Even if you don’t live in one of these cities or if you do, you are in luck here at DoubleBugs! We would like to offer one lucky reader a chance to win a $15 Gift Card for free pizza at your local Dominos.
Here’s What You Gotta Do!

Mimi The Sardine Lunch Bug *Review and Giveaway*
July 14, 2009 by Laurie
Filed under Closed Contests, Contests, Family Fun, Product Reviews, shopping
With the boys getting older and the weather being so nice we like to head outdoors frequently during the summer months. On of our favorite outings is to head to the zoo for the morning and have sack lunch there before we head home for their naps. When you visit places like the zoo the cost for food and beverages are usually outrageous and when you have a family of four, that can get a bit pricey. For half of the cost we can pack a well rounded lunch for all us and it is so much more fun to sort of have a picnic as a family.
I am always in search of new and fun things that sort of make my life easier and appeal to the fun and whimsical that comes along with having children. When I pack a lunch for the boys it is typically in a plastic baggie or in a brown paper bag. If you know anything about food, presentation is always important especially when you have toddlers, and I try to make all things exciting to them. They love the idea of picnics and bringing along their own special snacks for their trips to the zoo or to the playground.

Recently we were sent two Lunch Bug lunch bags from Mimi The Sardine and let me tell you they are incredibly adorable and when you see them, you will never go brown bagging again for your children. We received the Hybrid Cars print and the Propellers because my two go nuts over planes and cars! When I packed their lunch the first time in their new Lunch Bug bags they were really excited. They have such bright and cheery colors and the boys thought that they were really getting something extra special. Who wouldn’t get excited about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that was surrounded by such a delightful packaging?

About Mimi The Sardine
A small, family-owned business located in Marin County just outside San Francisco, Mimi the Sardine’s vibrantly colored Swedish prints capture a sense of delight and a bright innocence, appealing to youngsters and the young at heart, while they naturally bring smiles into life’s everyday eating experiences. The company’s focus on bright, colorful, coated cotton prints and easy care fabrics has made Mimi the Sardine’s bibs, aprons, splash mats, lunch bugs, backpacks, placemats, and tablecloths synonymous with good times in households all across America. With the transition into soft, safe, organically grown cotton in everything they make, healthy just got healthier—for you, your family, the farmers, and precious ecological systems.

Lunchbugs are also extremely easy to clean, which is a huge plus when you have little kids and you know there is always bound to be a mess near by. To clean them, you just wipe, or machine-wash and tumble dry on low! Each bag is equipped with a sturdy zipper and soft handles, children and adults alike fall in love with the fun and colorful patterns, and everyone appreciates its eco-friendly and safe fabric. I love love love these bags because they are a vacation from the ordinary and are fun and you can tell that they are made with love. This is a perfect alternative to brown bag lunches and is sure to brighten up any child’s day.

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

Carpet Cleaning Sunday
July 12, 2009 by Laurie
Filed under General, Just for fun!
Whatever happened to Sunday being a day of rest? I decided early this morning that I was going to clean the carpets so , I headed up to Lowes to rent a Rug Doctor. I had so much laundry that I could have been doing but I couldn’t bare to look at my carpets any longer.
It was my intention to have a carpet cleaning service come out, but the reality is that it costs a lot more money than doing it ourselves. To my surprise the blue crayon came out of our area rugs, so I am very happy about that.
One little beef I have about Rug Doctors is that the cleaning solution they sell to you is horribly expensive for a half gallon of cleaner it cost you just as much at the rental! I’m like are they for real? Not only that you have to supposedly by this anti-foam stuff to put in the water recovery tank which cost more money. It is a total gouging, so I wised up. I went into Lowes, and rented the rug doctor, but I visited the cleaning aisle and found industrial strength/commercial carpet shampoo with a deodorizer for $9.00! Normally I will get two bottles of Rug Doctor stuff and be out the money, but I wont fall for that anymore. Not only that, the anti foam stuff is a crock if you buy low foam carpet shampoo you have no foam at all to speak of.
Seriously, what a way to rip people off! No bottle of soap or shampoo/cleaner for your carpet should cost $20! The unit cost $26 to rent….what a rip!
Playskool’s Clipo Hippo *Review*
July 10, 2009 by Laurie
I am always on the lookout for toys for my twins and I usually tend to gravitate to toys that have some level of challenge for their little minds. I am all for toys that are strictly for fun, but toys that encourage development of useful skills are a huge plus.
We just recently had the opportunity to try out Playskool’s Clipo Hippo. These are so much fun and remind me a lot of the bristle blocks that I used to play with when I was kid. The Clip Hippo allows kids to build all sorts of colorful creations with interlocking bristle type shapes (20 pieces in all). There are even places to attach these brightly colored shapes to the Hippo’s back and on the wheels, and when they are done the pieces can be cleverly stored in the Hippo’s mouth. I am a huge fan of the storage option since toys seem to migrate all over my house and having a place to store pieces within the toy itself makes for easy cleanup which is always a plus.
Product Features
• Colorful hippo toy encourages little ones to build all sorts of creations while interlocking the peg-covered CLIPO blocks to each other – and to the hippo!
• Hippo’s mouth opens wide – blocks store inside!
• Rolling wheels for on-the-floor fun.
• Hippo comes with 20 CLIPO parts.
• Ages 18 months and up.
It is always fun to get a new toy for the boys and they quickly wanted to jump in and play. There was a little fighting at first but they both found their own ways to play with the Clipo Hippo. The thing about this toy is that it allows your child to use their imagination so they can come up with new things each time they play with it. The toy is recommended for ages 18 months and up, but I can see it lasting much into the older years. I can remember playing with blocks and things like the Clipo Hippo at least until I was 5 or 6 maybe older. Playskool has a whole entire Clipo line so it isn’t just limited to the Clipo Hippo, so you can add pieces and variety.
When the boys first played with it, they were all about where the blocks were hidden, and putting Clipos on the wheels LOL ! Its such a versatile toy and the boys love it. You can see in the video, that there are endless possibilities for their little imaginations. The Clipo Hipo retails for $20.99 and you can find it at most toy retailers.
Long Day
Do you ever just have one of those days that seems to drag on forever? I was going to come in here and post, but never got the chance to actually sit down.
The morning was spent at the attorney setting up our wills and going over all the paperwork with both boys in tow. We then got home with lunch and they went down for a nap. Where I was and what I did after that was a complete blur and then poof the day was gone.
We made dinner, I ran to the grocery store, did a little gardening and then it was time to get the boys ready for bed. By the time I finally sat down, I didn’t want to do anything but vegetate. I have so much to get done, but, I think I need a day to sleep in!

Zeno Helps Zaps Pimples *review*
July 6, 2009 by Laurie
Filed under Health and Beauty, Product Reviews
Acne and pimples can be a real pain and inconvenience when trying to look your best. I have always gotten those obligatory pimples that come with “that time of the month” but I guess I was all too naive to think that when I became an adult that they would magically disappear. Well, I was wrong and even though I don’t care as much now when I get a pimple as I did when I was a teenager, they are still a real pain.
You can always feel a pimple coming on, like the day before your meet and greet with someone important, when you have to smile and look nice for the camera, or the night before your wedding. Sometimes it’s like they have a mind of their own, and decide that it’s pay back and pop up on the end of your nose like rudolph. You head into the bathroom, armed like Tim The Toolman, with your seven different creams, washes and scrubs in hopes of washing them away. In my experience and only because I have sensitive skin, all those creams can sometimes do more harm than good.
I was given a Zeno Mini to try and it is a really cool little device designed to help when that dreaded pimple decides to pop up. Basically it is a little handheld device that uses the science of heat to help your blemishes disappear or fade significantly within 24 hrs. Clear Point technology as it is called, delivers a dose of natural soothing heat to the blemish that kills the bacteria that causes pimples to worsen. I was a little skeptical at first when I saw how little this things was.
So I decided to give it a try and never in my life had I been more excited to get a pimple LOL! I ran to get my Zeno Mini, giddy with excitement, and turned it on. My boys were dazzled by all the lights on it and the fun beeping that reminded me of a video game, but after it warmed up, I was ready to start zapping. I wasn’t sure what to expect with my first use, but the heat that the Zeno Mini delivers felt great. Zeno is most effective on blemishes that are just starting, below the surface of the skin. If you know anything about the start of a blemish, you know that they tend to hurt especially if you get ones on your upper lip. But after using the Zeno Mini once the pain that I experienced actually had lessened quite a bit. After a second treatment and about fourteen hours later, I could barely tell I even had a pimple! I don’t know how well this works for other people. as each person is different, but for me I was very pleasantly surprised at how effective it was. Not only that, I didn’t have to hang over the sink using creams and washes, and I could sit right in front of the tv while zapping my pimple. I love that the size is small and can fit in your purse. You can zap blemishes anytime, all you need is your Zeno Mini and 2.5 minutes!
I also wanted to mention that if you have sensitive skin, the Zeno tends to leave some redness where you treated the pimple but that faded for me within an hour, but everyone’s skin is a little different. So I would try it before going to bed, that way if it leaves some redness you can sleep it off.
The price of the Zeno Mini ($89) might seem a little daunting and the tips ($18.99) on it should be replaced after approximately 45 uses, but I think for the convenience, it may well be worth the investment. I don’t think it is a miracle cure if you have acne and as with anything, it does have its limits, but seems to be very effective when you have the start of a pimple, at least in my opinion. I will definitely keep this little beauty in my purse, so I will be armed with zit zapping power when the inconvenience of a blemish arrives. The key is to get them early and the blemish might be a little less problematic. All in all, I think it is a useful product if you tend to have the occasional pimple, and definitely a modern convenience. I just like the fact that it is easy to use, I can use it anywhere, and if it’s going to work, it works quickly! The Zeno also comes in a bigger version, but I prefer small and discreet. Definitely check out a Zeno and get zapping!
