Rain X Review

I sheepishly admit to ignoring a lot of things about my car. I am usually almost too busy to even think about the little things like keeping the windows clean and changing my wiper blades.
What I didn’t know was that you should be changing them at least twice a year! I don’t think that mine have been changed on my car in over two years.

As you can imagine having a good set of wiper blades is extremely important in the winter months and especially in the rainy season. I know without a good set of wipers on my car I can barely see in the rain and especially when its raining at night.

Clear visibility while driving is extremely important and can improve reaction times in poor weather conditions. In fact, according to a report released in June 2008 by sciencedaily.com, nearly a quarter of all automobile accidents occur in rainy and wet weather so making sure you have properly working wiper blades is important to help avoid accidents in poor weather conditions. By routinely checking your wiper blades and performing safety checks on your car you can help increase your safety while driving during inclement weather.

Since winter is not quite over yet here are some tips to stay safe while driving in the rain, snow, slush and ice:
• Conduct a regular walk around checking your lights, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid and wiper blades regularly
• Ensure your tires are properly inflated and have sufficient tread
• As the temperature drops keep your gas tank at least half full; the extra gas reduces condensation that can plug your fuel line with ice and stall your engine in cooler weather
• Create an emergency pack; items like a blanket, first aid kit, snacks (I have snacks on hand anyway!), bottled water, an ice scraper, flashlight and a bag of kitty litter .

I just recently tried out the new RainX Latitude wipers , a bottle of Rain-X X-treme Clean glass and plastic renew-er, and a bottle of Rain-X Weatherbeater 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent and I must say that I love them. The RainX Latitude wiper blades have a contoured design that fits more snugly to your windshield to help remove snow, ice, and rain more effectively. They were a snap to put on which is a plus for car challenged people like me.

The 2-in-1 glass cleaner and rain repellent is excellent. I am amazed at what a difference it makes when it is raining outside. In stead of the rain completely coating my windshield it sort of just beads up and rolls off which helps a great deal for visibility when you are in a downpour.

RainX Latitude Wiper Blades

Easy Installation

  • For use on either originally installed standard or curved style wiper blades
  • Pre-installed with small j-hook adapter and contains multi-adapter for side pin, large j-hook and bayonet wiper blade arms
  • Rain-X Latitude® Version -2 wiper blades fit I&L (Insert & Lock) and PTB (Pinch Tab Button) wiper blade arms

High Performance Wipe

  • Contoured design applies even pressure along the entire blade length
  • Specially blended graphite coated rubber blade delivers the ultimate smooth, clean, chatter-free wipe
  • Built-in aerodynamic spoiler significantly reduces drag, noise and wind lift

Ice Resistant Frame

  • Prevents ice and snow build-up through the elimination of exposed metal components
  • Durable, rubber-encased substructure increases wiper flexibility and adherence to the windshield in harsh conditions

I will now be a little more vigilant in changing my wiper blades, because it makes such a difference!  I didn’t think that just changing your wiper blades would make such a difference.  It’s nice to be able to see out the window without feeling like the outside is a hall of mirrors.

New Look!

Well I had to say goodbye to my best friend Tanya today.  I had so much fun just having some girl time together.  And for the first time in many  months I actually got to go out to eat with her and we had no children with us.  I think on her trip here we ate more than I eat in a given week, and I feel as if I can hibernate LOL.

We spent a lot of time working on my new blog design, and ran into some major technical difficulties when the site totally crashed.  There was some sort of an array error that was given as a result of adding a widget and it caused my blog to go bye bye.  It was pretty scary for awhile because we weren’t certain if it could be recovered.  Naturally, I was in panic mode because that would have been 10 months of work out the window and I would have been crushed because I had come so far.  But, thanks to my dear husband he was able to contact out host and get a recovery from last Sunday, so I only lost a weeks worth of posts which we had saved so all I had to do was add images.

I am very happy with how things are shaping up.  I am in love with this new theme and the header that was designed for me by Lauren and so thankful for all the tips and tricks that Tanya showed me while she was here.  I love how neat and clean everything looks and I think once I get accustomed to navigating everything, I will love it even more. The new design also just makes me feel so happy and motivated.  It’s a good pick me up when you make a change!

I hope everyone likes my new look. Let me know what you think.

Site In Progress

Along with my changing age, I am currently in the process of changing my site.  So, if you notice things looking a little  bit crazy for the time being, it is because I am trying to get comfy in my new digs.  I am really liking the new layout and am totally excited about it.  It will be a refreshing change from what I am used to.

Today we celebrated my birthday and I went out to lunch with my best friend and it was so nice to just go out minus any kids.   We then did a little window shopping and sort of browsed around and bought a few little things.  We all had dinner at the Japanese steakhouse and the boys loves it!  They had so much fun watching the chef throw things around and they were really good.  So, all in all, it was a great day.

Happy Birthday To Me

Well tomorrow I am yet another year older and I am now heading towards the big 40.  I am sharing my birthday with my wonderful friend Tanya and with my dear husband and my two sweet little boys.   We are planning on going out to dinner and just sharing some time together with friends and family.  It seems like time is moving by so fast, and it was just yesterday that I was turning 16.

I hope that this year brings with happiness and health.  And my wish, is to hopefully add a pending new arrival to make our family complete.  I am hoping for a little girl at some point but I would be absolutely thrilled with a healthy little one.  We will see what 2009 has in store for me.  Anyway, Happy Birthday To Me, and it will be a good one.

Johnson’s has been around for 50 years! My mom used it on me when I was a baby, and now I use it all the time for my boys. Some of my favorites our their Head -to- Toe Wash and the Toddler Bedtime Wash. I love to sit and read to the boys and smell their hair after their baths. At any given time we have a bottle of Johnson’s shampoo, and wash on the tub.

Mom Central and Johnson’s offered me a terrific opportunity to try out two new products from Johnson’s. To help celebrate its 50th Anniversary and continue the tradition of fun in the tub, Johnson’s has introduced two new additions to their already wonderful line of bath products, HEAD-TO-TOE Foaming Wash and Johnson’s Baby Bubble Bath & Wash. I have always loved their bubble bath and head- to- toe wash and it is gentle on their skin. The new foaming wash is really nice to get a good lather, and the boys love taking the suds from the bubble bath and putting it on each others heads. They just giggle and laugh the entire time.

Johnson’s also offers a great resource for parents called the Johnson’s Baby Channel where moms like us can submit videos and share advice with other moms. This is a terrific way to get helpful hints and tips from moms like you and me and hopefully offer a different perspective.

Dole Fruit Parfaits Review

My two just love fresh fruit of just about any kind.   They are huge fans of anything that they can hold in their little hands, and sort of have their own personal snack because sharing with your twin brother is a difficult thing to do.

We received a few packages of Dole’s Fruit Parfaits to try, and let me just tell you, that there aren’t any left in the house! Dole Fruit Parfaits are a perfect combination of fresh fruit with a layer of light creme.  They are just the right size for a snack or to put in your child’s lunches, and offer a healthier alternative to sugary snacks.  If I am craving something sweet, this has just enough to satisfy that craving without overdoing it.  Dole Fruit Parfaits are also excellent in the winter months when some of the seasonal fruits are a little more scarce.   Both of my boys ate these with great relish and the Peaches and Creme Parfait was their absolute favorite flavor.

collagedole

For me, I like the fact that they are convenient, and an easy snack when things are hectic.   It is always nice to just have something relatively quick and healthy on hand.  They are just the right size for little hands to hold on to, and a perfect treat for kids, because they think they are getting something special.  We will definitely be keeping a stash of these in the fridge.

You can find Dole Fruit Parfaits in your grocery store usually with all the canned fruits and jarred applesauce.  They don’t need to be refrigerated so you can store them in the pantry until you are ready to eat them.  We like ours really cold but you don’t have to refrigerate them.

Romantic Movies 10 I Love

February 16, 2009 by

What are some of your favorite romantic movies? After all the talk of Valentine’s Day over the weekend, it just brought to mind some of my absolute favorite movies. I love romantic comedies and just regular romantic movies. Here are some of my favorites.
1. Officer and a Gentleman– OMG can it get any better than this movie. I used to dream that a guy in uniform would come and sweep me off my feet after watching this one.
2. Under the Tuscan Sun– I could so picture myself in this girls shoes, fixing up my little house in Italy and falling in love.
3. Pretty Woman– Richard Gere, whats not to love? I used to think he was the sexiest looking guy and he had just enough gray hair. Well I still think he looks good.
4. Only You– I love this movie and Marisa Tomei! I would be nuts enough to chase a guy through the streets of Italy. Do you see a going theme here? Magic must happen in Italy. I have always wanted to go there, maybe on a second honeymoon with my hubby.
5. Notting Hill-Anything with Mr Hugh Grant. I love him in a suit with no tie and the top three buttons undone. LOL.
6. Dirty Dancing-I’ve watched this movie like 80 times and I still love it.
7. The Family Stone
8. Bridget Jones’s Diary-Hugh Grant…hello people!
9. Nine Months-Hugh Grant, ok I love the guy shush!
10. Serendipity-I love what this movie is about
I have a few more that I really like but these are my top ten. I can only watch these when my husband is away otherwise he makes fun of me. These are great when he is out playing poker with the guys. Grab a margarita, some popcorn and your girlfriends. What are your favorites?

Potty Training

potty_time_boy_250

Potty training will be our next big hurdle. Both of the bubbas are just now showing some interest in the potty.  Since I have two of them to potty train, I am a little nervous about jumping right in.  It is hard to say if they will sort of watch and learn from each other or if each one will sort of move at their own pace.

It has been fun around the house lately with two boys running around.  Their newest thing is to take off their diapers and run naked as a jaybird through the house.  If you’re lucky and super fast.  you might catch one of them!  This is where being a mommy can get a little hairy.  One afternoon I was going to the bathroom and usually I have one or both in the bathroom with me, because we all know mommy can’t pee alone.  Anyway, I just went in the bathroom for a minute.  I hear the two of them laughing and playing and bubs goes driving by on his trike.  I think nothing of it because he had his shirt on.  I didn’t notice that the diaper was off till he came around the corner.  I’m thinking about grabbing the duct tape next.

I am thinking that they are getting close, but the pediatrician and my sister-in-law told us to look closer to three years of age before they are potty trained.  My husband and I aren’t really pushing the issue, but we have a potty chair in each bathroom.  If they ask to sit on it, we just say ok. and let them sit their with a book.  Sometimes we get lucky with the timing and raise a ruckus and clap and praise them if they do something.  I am praying for it all to be easy. But we shall see!  I will keep you updated as we move along, it is so hard when you have two at one time and you are a first time parent learning as you go.

Romance Or Not To Romance: Small Talk Six

February 14, 2009 by

Today’s topic is the “6 most romantic or unromantic things that have ever happened to you.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc …

I decided to pick the romantic things, because  there are always a ton of the unromantic and since it is Valentine’s Day, I figured I make it a nice one.

  1. Romantic: My now husband drove 8 hours to meet me face to face for the first time since meeting online, and he showed up at my front door on the 4th of July.  We kissed under the Arch ,under the fireworks.  It was the first time in my life that I got home at 6:30am, and woke my mom up to tell her I just got home  lol.   We’ve been married for almost 7 years and together for 13 years.
  2. Romantic: This won’t sound like a romantic proposal, because it wasn’t fancy, but it was to me.   I showed up from work at our apartment, and walked in the door.  I heard rustling and actually got scared that someone was in the apartment with me, and my dear husband, came down the hallway, dressed in a suit (which was something special in itself ), 2 dozen white and pink roses, and he knelt down and asked me to marry him.  I had told him that I wanted a nice personal, low key proposal.
  3. Romantic: The first time I visited his home country, he took me to dinner in an old stone fort that was a restaurant high on a hill overlooking the ocean.  This place had the best Creme Brulee!
  4. Romantic: We were in Las Vegas, and the closest we would come to actually going to Italy, and riding on a gondola was at the Venetian.  We spent the next hour listening to our guide singing songs in italian.
  5. Romantic: Our Honeymoon.  We spent 2 weeks in New Zealand.  We shared our first days as husband and wife in a hotel in a bed and breakfast in wine country.
  6. Romantic:  Hiking in the fall in West Virginia to an overlook peak. The hike was killer, we were huffing and puffing  lol, but when we got to the top, there was a couple getting married with violins playing and anyone could be there.  We sat on a rock and held hands, sort of renewing our wedding vows.
