Rain X Review

I sheepishly admit to ignoring a lot of things about my car. I am usually almost too busy to even think about the little things like keeping the windows clean and changing my wiper blades.
What I didn’t know was that you should be changing them at least twice a year! I don’t think that mine have been changed on my car in over two years.
As you can imagine having a good set of wiper blades is extremely important in the winter months and especially in the rainy season. I know without a good set of wipers on my car I can barely see in the rain and especially when its raining at night.
Clear visibility while driving is extremely important and can improve reaction times in poor weather conditions. In fact, according to a report released in June 2008 by sciencedaily.com, nearly a quarter of all automobile accidents occur in rainy and wet weather so making sure you have properly working wiper blades is important to help avoid accidents in poor weather conditions. By routinely checking your wiper blades and performing safety checks on your car you can help increase your safety while driving during inclement weather.
Since winter is not quite over yet here are some tips to stay safe while driving in the rain, snow, slush and ice:
• Conduct a regular walk around checking your lights, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid and wiper blades regularly
• Ensure your tires are properly inflated and have sufficient tread
• As the temperature drops keep your gas tank at least half full; the extra gas reduces condensation that can plug your fuel line with ice and stall your engine in cooler weather
• Create an emergency pack; items like a blanket, first aid kit, snacks (I have snacks on hand anyway!), bottled water, an ice scraper, flashlight and a bag of kitty litter .

I just recently tried out the new RainX Latitude wipers , a bottle of Rain-X X-treme Clean glass and plastic renew-er, and a bottle of Rain-X Weatherbeater 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent and I must say that I love them. The RainX Latitude wiper blades have a contoured design that fits more snugly to your windshield to help remove snow, ice, and rain more effectively. They were a snap to put on which is a plus for car challenged people like me.
The 2-in-1 glass cleaner and rain repellent is excellent. I am amazed at what a difference it makes when it is raining outside. In stead of the rain completely coating my windshield it sort of just beads up and rolls off which helps a great deal for visibility when you are in a downpour.

- Built-in aerodynamic spoiler significantly reduces drag, noise and wind lift
Ice Resistant Frame

I will now be a little more vigilant in changing my wiper blades, because it makes such a difference! I didn’t think that just changing your wiper blades would make such a difference. It’s nice to be able to see out the window without feeling like the outside is a hall of mirrors.

Here is a tip I saw 90% of driving decisions are based solely on vision. I change my wipers about every 20000 miles (probably too long). Right this morning I thought I needed new ones.
Great stuff. It works.
they say to change your wipers yearly, I sadly did not know that!

78 percent of motorists only change their wiper blades after the blades themselves begin to impair their visibility and have become a safety hazard.
Include me in that 78%.

I usually change them once a year.
recommended that wiper blades be changed at least every year..
I learned that wiper skipping occurs when the blade develops a curvature from lack of use. I don’t change the wipers, Rod does, and I believe he does it about once each year.
Skipping occurs when the blade develops a curvature from lack of use (e.g.: left in the ‘parked position’ for an extended length of time). So I guess that means “use ’em or lose ’em!”
I found out that wiper blades should be changed every year (GULP!)
I change mine when hubby says “HONEY, time to change your wipe blades.” Geeze!
You mean they don’t have a lifetime warranty??? Just kidding! hahaha

“Drivers often wait several years to switch out a pair of wipers that went bad after only six to 12 months.”
I can see a little beyond that, but several years? I’ll change mine when they don’t seem to be doing their job, but generally once every year to 18 months. I think the hot, dry conditions factor against me a little.
Twice a year, at 1st sign of sqeecking

I change my wiper blades whenever they stop working correctly, about once in every 2-3 years…
I learned that 90% of driving decisions are based on vision. I change my blades about once a year, probably.
The curved blade keeps a constant pressure to clean properly.
Also there were many tips to tell you when to change your wipers.
I probably change my wipers once a year.
Skipping can occur when the blade develops a curvature from leaving the blades in the ‘parked position’ for an extended length of time. I’ve been known to do this. 🙁
I change my blades probably about every year or maybe year and a half. I know I should do it more often.

You should change your blades if you have streaking.

I change my blades about every 9 months or as needed
I change my blades when they start smearing. I read that salt air makes wiper blades deteriorate faster – I did not know that!
I learned that a small fluffy cumulous cloud may hold 100 to 1000 tons of liquid water. I generally change my wiper blades when it’s obvious they’re no longer working properly. (That’s usually in the middle of a storm when I really need them.)
I know it’s common sense to most but I didn’t know that it is recommended that wiper blades be changed at least every year.

Wiper blades do not last forever and should be replaced annually. I replace only when the start falling apart.
They suggested changing your wiper blades on Groundhog Day. I don’t think I would remember that, but perhaps I would remember to change them each time I moved the clock back and forward.
I change my blades probably every other year, whenever they start to squeak. Good enuf for me.

I learned that research indicates that 60% of the drivers who don’t install their own wiper blades cite difficult installation as the reason—but in my case the installation isn’t done because my best friend does it for me. Don’t know how often ‘cuz he checks regularly and changes the blades as needed.
Research indicates that 60% of the drivers who don’t install their own wiper blades cite difficult installation as the reason.
i change mine whenever they’re not working very well anymore, which is usually far short of a year (4-6 months, even keeping them clean). is anything made to last anymore?!?!?
Wiper blades need to be changed yearly….maybe this is my problem! Thanks!
They say to change wiper blades at least every year. Uh, that’s not happening here and we really need to do it as it has been a couple years!
Change them blades at least once a year. I have also found when you use RainX on a regular bases, your blades will last longer.
I saw that you should never use your windshield wipers to de-ice your windshield. Instead, either use an ice scraper or use your defroster to melt snow and ice. Unfortunately, I don’t replace my wipers as much as I should… when I finally can’t see out anymore, I have the mechanic change them

After reviewing the tips, the main thing I’ve learned is that I don’t check and/or change the wiper blades on any regular basis. It is literally years between blades changes; however, I have used the Rain-X glass cleaner and it works so well that – let’s just say that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it… 🙂

I learned that every minute of the day, 1 billion tons of rain falls on the earth. I also learned that you should change your wiper blades every year. I live in the desert and wiper blades take a beating between the UV, the heat, and the dry air. You really have to change them that often.
I learned that streaking occurs when the rubber squeegee dries, hardens and cracks. It can also be caused by tree sap, road tar and other foreign substances collected on either the glass or the blade.

It is recommended that wiper blades be changed at least every year. I usually change them when they need it.

wow…. I had no idea about all of that… talking about the previous postings. I haven’t changed wiper blades in about a decade… yikes!!
what does that little pic mean on my posting… how weird.. ?!
Wiper blades should be changed every year. I usually change mine right before winter starts — can’t stand turning on the windshield wipers during that first snowstorm of the year and seeing nothing but streaks and slush. Bad time to find out your wipers are shot!
DUH! Wipers dont last forever people. This is what i do every year for my truck wipers get changed 1 time a year an wash the windshield monthly. I use rain x for my truck.
Guys, save your money on the rainX rain repellant. Check the ingredients and you will see that it is isopropyl alcohol. That’s right, you can use the 89cent bottle of rubbing alcohol from your local chain store and save BIG money. I’ve used it for years now and it works exactly the same!
