Shopping, two toddlers, and a pretzel

So I decided that I needed to get milk and a few other things this morning from the grocery.  Bubs has had a horrid diaper rash from the antibiotic he is on for his latest ear infection.   So I get us all ready and out the door and up the street.  I have twins, so the grocery store can sometimes be a challenge when you don’t have a cart to hold both of them.  Usually they have these little bench carts available and stupid cars that have videos that you have to pay for, well not today… so I put Bubs in the seat part and Monkey in the basket, because I wasn’t buying too much.

I gave each of the boys a few of their favorite mini pretzel rods and off I went.  Monkey decided to stand up and I am busy telling him to sit down when you guessed it…..he flopped right out of the cart and hit the floor.  It scared the crud out of me, and well, when I got him up, underneath his eye was all bloody.  He had fell and the pretzel cut  his eye.  So I leave the store and head home to see the damage and we decided to take him to urgent care.   Thankfully he didn’t need stitches, but imagine me telling them that he got cut by his pretzel!  Im just glad hes ok and I guess I will be paying for a cart next time when there are none of the free ones available.  I think its crazy that more places don’t have these and the ones that do have them should have them in good repair.   Half of them are broken!  Im sure all the twin moms can relate!

One of those days

Did you ever just have one of those days where you just wanted to stay in bed and hide? Both of the boys are sick again and I am just beat.   I was trying to get out a post here and just fell right to sleep.   We are due to get ear tubes for Bubs next week and it appears he may have another ear infection.   Neither one of them can breathe at the moment which makes sleeping next to impossible.   Hopefully by tomorrow,I will be up and running again.   When the bubbas are sick it seems the days get longer and I run out of gas a lot quicker.  I feel like superwoman some days!

Visit from Grampy

The boys are having such a fun time with their grampy and getting a little spoiled too.  They just got a police car and a motorcycle.  The only problem is that each one always wants what the other one has.  It is so hard to teach a toddler the concept of sharing, and in fact it is almost impossible!   Anyway we are enjoying our visit and the boys are enjoying someone new in the house to look at!

I am not sure who gets more excited me or the boys, but we are heading out for Trick-or-Treat tomorrow! I think the boys are going to be into this year and have been practicing saying “Trick-or-Treat!” I bet when the time comes they will act like the cat has their tongue. I know they are going to love all the candy!

Well tomorrow I am off to pick more apples. This time they are the Fuji apples, which are some of the best apples you can get. It is supposed to rain this weekend so I need to get my apple picking in. I mostly enjoy just being in the outdoors and wandering through the orchard. It will be a cold one, but I am excited, this is definitely goin gto be a future family tradition!!

Back with Apples, apples, and more apples!

Ok so we went apples picking and we decided on a 20lb bag of apples to pick.  The boys had a lot of fun and I loved meandering through the apple orchard and finding the perfect apples.  Bubs took a bite of a rotten apple before we could stop him, so I think it turned him off to the whole apple eating thing.  Once they got the hang of it, they were picking all sorts of apples, faster than me and my husband could look at them  lol!

Now I have 20 lbs of apples, and I figured I would be industrious in the kitchen, and make some apple pies and homemade applesauce, neither of which I have a clue on how to make really.   I love to cook but I have never actually made an apple pie.  I have made “pie like” dishes but never an actual fruit pie.   So I have passed by this huge bag of apples like 30 times, and I have decided that I will attempt to make a pie.  My dear husband has requested an apple pie with no apple chunks of any kind.  He has some weird texture issue (*rolls eyes*).  So how do I make an “applesauce” pie…I guess you would call it that?   To me you might as well slap some Musselman’s  in a pie crust and heat it up.  He doesn’t know what hes missing….a piece of warm apple pie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream yum!

So If anyone has any suggestions for a mush apple pie…please enlighten me.   I will be keeping you posted with my apple endeavor.  I intend on making a few pies and some applesauce.

Weekend Fun…Apples and Pumpkins

It has been many years since I have gone apple picking or even gone to a pumpkin patch.   We will be taking the boys this weekend to pick out pumpkins for the family and to do a little apple picking.   We have told them that we are going to get pumpkins so they are really excited about it.   Monkey is most excited about taking a hay ride with the tractor.   He is so in love with things like tractors, bulldozers, and type of machinery.   He cried when he had to go to bed, he was already going to find his shoes after bath to go to the pumpkin path  LOL!   I am looking forward to a wonderful day and just watching the boys get all excited about picking out their pumpkins and “reaching high like daddy” to pick apples.  I will surely get lots of pictures!

My boys love to go with my husband in the wagon up to the schools playground, so I usually take advantage of this time to get a few things done. So I ran to get a little shopping done and on my way home I stopped at the playground. My husband tells me that Monkey is “soupy man” and at first it didn’t register that he was saying he is Superman lol! My husband was grabbing him and flying him off the jungle gym and saying he was Superman and Monkey says he is “Soupy Man”….so cute. I guess I need to get my little superhero a cape!

Getting back on the saddle

Hello everyone!

Well, I am finally up and running again after a very long week!  We lost power for about three days (due to 80mph winds), I am busy trying to finally catch up.  We are all sick as a result of the windows being open all that time, and we have been busy trying to replenish our food supply, as we lost both freezers of food and the entire refridgerator of food.  Our next task this weekend will be to cut up our beautiful maple tree that didn’t survive the high winds (I was so looking forward to seeing its leaves change!), and to get my windshield repaired that was cracked by a falling tree while driving!  I am attaching a video of just how crazy it was here, and this is when it was just picking up!

Checking in on behalf of DoubleBugs

Hi! This is Tanya… Laurie’s friend from Mommy Goggles.

I wanted to let you all know that Laurie is out of commission right now. She lives in an area where Hurricane Ike’s aftermath decided to venture her way. With 80+ MPH winds last night , it blew power lines over and her electric is out. They estimate anywhere from 3-7 days, or more.

Please say a prayer for her and her family that the power is back on. Having two toddlers in the house, it is hard enough keeping everyone happy with the power out.

Thinking about you Laurie!
