Well my friend Tanya has inspired me to do more renovations to the house. I have decided to tackle the basement which gives me the creeps. We don’t have a poured foundation it is basically brick or cinder block and we get some moisture coming in so we will be painting the dreary space with a waterproofing white paint! We also want to semi-finish it by laying carpet so we can sort of hang out down there with the family. I will be posting pictures as we go. We have a crawl space and I won’t go in it, it seems like such a waste of space so I will hang a curtain to hide that. I’m hoping it will brighten up the space! More to come!

Picture taking weekend

Well, it was a picture taking weekend for me and the boys. I did my first photo session outside of my home and I think I did pretty well. I still have a lot to learn, but I captured some good images over the weekend and hopefully I will get them up here sometime in the next few days.
The boys had their first experience with the ice cream truck which was fun. It brought back so many memories of my childhood. I wanted to get a frozen toe ice cream, which I loved as a kid, but unfortunately they were out of them. I took lots of pictures of the boys enjoying their bomb pops which seemed to have grown in size over the years! These things were huge! They, of course, made an enormous mess of the things, but that’s part of the fun! It gives me so much enjoyment just to watch these two growing up, and not only that you sort of get to experience being a kid again. I can’t wait for that ice cream truck to come back down the street 🙂
We went to the Wiggles

Wednesday we took the boys to see the Wiggles. My husband wasn’t all too thrilled to be going but the boys really enjoyed it. We had the greatest seat ever and I wanted to take pictures and I brought my camera, but forgot my memory card in the card reader at home UGH! Monkey, got a little antsy about 30 minutes into the show but Bubs, on the other hand, loved it! When the Wiggles came out in their “big red car” , the look on their faces was so cute! The both were grinning from ear to ear and they were captivated. We had so much fun and I hope to take them again next year. The next morning they both woke up talking about the “waggles” as they call them LOL. So cute!
I knew it wasn’t going right when…

Usually, I just wait until my husband gets home to take the boys outside, just because it is easier to keep track of the two of them, and I am not a big fan of being out in the blazing sun. So, I decided to be different, and take them out to play (big mistake number one).
Today is a watering day for the lawn, so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone, get the boys out to play and get the grass watered. So if you can envision this one….I have the sprinkler going not the back and forth kind, but the kind that moves in a circle. I get it going and all is well, and we head to the garage to put up the big boy swings instead of what was up on the swing set. We are happily coming back when Monkey isn’t paying attention and walks right in the line of fire of the sprinkler. I’m trying to get to him without water shooting up my shorts, and he’s flailing about screaming, lost in rapid fire water. So I’m chasing him in the circular path of the water trying to get him out. That was an adventure!
Next, I put up the regular swings instead of their toddler swings. Everyone is happy and excited and they jump on. Im busy getting the toddler swings off the grass and setting them up on the picnic bench (only 3 seconds gone by) and Bubs is standing in front of Monkey and they are both screaming.
They apparently clunked heads because Bubs walked in front of Monkey while he was still swinging. I’m busy telling them they have to be careful! So I turn around they are swinging again and they clunk heads yet again…mind you in like a blink of an eye. After this, well, we headed back indoors…I put them in, went back out to adjust the sprinkler to avoid catastrophe and all is back to normal..I think.
ENOUGH SAID!
A little vent! Literally!

I was in the kitchen cleaning up the lunch mess, when I realized that it was a little quiet in the house for having two toddlers running about. Bubs comes running in talking about blocks. He kept repeating blocks, blocks, blocks! So I was thinking ok, he wants me to open his bin with blocks, so he can play. I go into the play room and there is Monkey with the floor vent open, and all the blocks are missing in action! This has been a constant battle, and they always manage to get the vent off without a peep! You would think it would make a lot of noise.
I have gotten out the trusty vacuum numerous times to snake the hose down the vent to suck up anything I could get. I think I have removed an entire toy box at times, and even had those moments where I say “so that’s where that went!” There are still some lost toys, I can get a pic with my camera, but they are too far to reach..I wonder how you get these things out. If you have a suggestion…please enlighten me! In the meantime, I will be super gluing them to the floor…the vents and not the kids lol!
Haircuts today!

When the boys needed their first haircuts, I decided to be brave and try it myself. Up until now, I have just been using the scissors and have become pretty good at it, but it was so time consuming; and with wiggle worms it can get a bit tricky! So I thought I would be adventurous, and use the clippers this time around. I must say that I did a really good job for my first time using the clippers on the boys, and it took me half the time to get the same result. Bubs saw Monkey and kept saying haircut, because he wanted me to use the clippers on him LOL! I am sure the novelty of it will wear off, but I will go with it for now.
On a flip note….Monkey’s face is finally starting to heal, albeit very slow. I hope that the stuff doesn’t come back!
Here are pics of their new dos!
Off to the doctor again!

The day before yesterday Monkey developed a red patch on his cheek. He has such sensitive skin that I thought maybe he had eczema starting up again. It usually starts on his face. So yesterday the problem seemed to be getting worse, and the red patch started looking almost like a blister and eventually by bath time it had started weeping (ugh!). So, I thought eczema could do this but when I looked at pictures it was nothing like that, so I made an appointment this morning for him and off we went. We just had Bubs at the doctor over a week ago for an ear infection and they both had colds but Monkey seems to get over this stuff…he has never had an ear infection as opposed to Bubs who has had close to 10! We are now looking into tubes for him, UGH! Anyway we took Monkey in and he apparently has a staph infection or otherwise known as impetigo eek! This stuff is very contagious for the first 24 hrs of antibiotics. The doctor did a culture just to make sure it isn’t something else. So I went and got the medicine, which Monkey doesn’t like by the way! So, that was a oy getting him to swallow the stuff LOL. I hope it goes away soon, poor bubba’s face looks awful!
Happy Birthday to My Babies

Well it was this day, two years ago, that I was in labor with my two boys. After 15 weeks of strict bed rest, with 8 of those weeks in the hospital, they made their entry about 6 weeks early. Monkey arrived at 10:15pm and Bubs arrived 10 minutes later at 10:25!
Our lives were changed forever, but I wouldn’t change it back for all the world. They have been such a joy and a blessing in my life!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Monkey AND Bubs!
Ugh no sleep

Well last night was a rough night! Both of the bubbas seem to be feeling under the weather. Over the weekend we were at the air show and I am wondering if they didn’t pick up some kung foo goo while they were there. I am even the overly cautious mom and was slathering them with hand sanitizer. I guess I should just get used to the fact that whenever they are around a bunch of kids, to expect some sort of snot fest afterwards. It seems that not everyone is really concerned about protecting other children from their child’s germs. I know that I can’t protect them from everything but it just seems like every time they get sick and with that comes 10-14 days of sleepless nights, cranky kids (2 of them), boogers everywhere, and no sleep for me either. When they are small like this, they can’t blow their nose, or verbalize much as to what is going on. Please pray that they get over this quick…poor guys have a birthday in 2 days 🙁 Luckily I won’t be celebrating till a little later…but that still is a bummer. Off to arm myself with the kleenex box!
