I love the Fall because the leaves are changing and the weather is getting cooler.   I love all the sites and smells of Fall and especially having nights around the firepit out back.   We are thinking about planning a get together around the fire one evening and I was trying to find some fun foods that we could make around the campfire.  I ran across some unique ideas, but my most favorite is making smores!

Another idea I found was to take the core out of an apple, fill the inside with cinnamon and sugar and wrap it up in foil and put it on the fire for 10-15 minutes, it’s supposed to make it like applesauce that you can eat right out of the apple!  I am goin got give it a try.

Leave a comment with some of your favorite “around the campfire” foods!

Girl’s Day Out

My good friend Tanya  is here for a visit this week and I am so excited.  We will be heading out for  a day of shopping and girlie activities.   It will be nice to leave all the testosterone at home and get some well deserved me time!  We are planning a day of shopping, lunch and dinner out, and just a little R&R.  Everyone just needs a time out from time to time, so I am greatly looking forward to a little “me time” break!

Running out of ideas

I have determined that I need to come up with some fresh ideas for meals for the kiddos.  They seem to be getting bored with the current menu and so am I.  It is so hard to be original when you are making three meals a day for little one and I want them to maintain interest in foods that are good for them.  I guess I need to figure out a new presentation for everyday foods.  I guess I will start delving into the cookbooks again to figure out some creative ideas.  At least they eat their fruits and vegetables so that’s one battle I don’t have to overcome.

Thank you to my wonderful friend Tanya for making me smile today with a little something special and sweet from one of our favorite places.

When you are having a blah say or week…it’s always nice to have a good friend there to cheer you up.

My Dilapidated Laptop

Well, I have discovered that my blogging is getting a little more difficult due to my poor little laptop that is on its last leg. I’m not looking for sympathy folks, as I find this a rather humorous post. I have been diligently saving for a new one that I will send my dear husband to stand in line in the cold on Black Friday for LOL. He likes that sort of thing and with diapers for two, it’s well worth shivering in the night with 300 other weary souls.

I got this laptop for my birthday about 6 years ago from my husband (and it came with a surprise visit from my parents) and I just love the thing. There is nothing like sitting on the couch and surfing the net in your jammies, or talking to good friends, or just writing, which I love to do. But, now I am sad to say, my poor Lappy, as I call it, is really on it’s last leg. I no longer have the power cord for it, as that died and I had to get a universal cord for it. The place that you plug the cord into (the pin on the laptop has broken 3 times and has been soldered on there by our good friend who happens to own a sodder iron. I believe at one time it was rigged with a piece of dental floss!! The “B” key, well, it popped off and the guy who fixed that, glued it to the rubber so it wobbled, and we finally snagged one off of ebay and replaced it. The hard drive went kapoot and well our dear friend gave me a new one as a gift. We lost the special hard drive connector, so we won an auction on ebay and got it back…well today while gutting the basement for our renovations we found it…(day late and a dollar short I say).

So as you all can see, it has been a brave and determined little computer and I do it give it credit. The speakers are broke and I hear no more sound either. I’m getting good at reading lips LOL! But the darn thing still works, and well I am happy, while I save up my pennies for a new fancy one. I won’ know what to do with myself! I’m lucky I can see this screen as there is a short somewhere in the monitor…it has to remain bent a certain way or the screen will spazz out on me.

Anyway, I thought I would share a few pics of my beloved laptop, and even when I get a new one…I might have to keep this one..I’m a little sentimental that way. Probably more than one Mom should endure…LOL but I get my tolerance from having twins!

A little funny for the day

This was sent to me so I thought I would share! This shows how innocent little ones are…we live in a world so quick to grow up. Keep them little as long as you can is what I say!

Why We Love Children

1. A kindergarten pupil told his teacher he’d found a cat, but it was dead. “How do you know that the cat was dead?” she asked her pupil. “Because I pissed in its ear and it didn’t move,” answered the child innocently. “You did WHAT?!” the teacher exclaimed in surprise. “You know,”explained the boy, “I leaned over and went ‘Pssst!’ and it didn’t move.”

2. An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him “How do you expect to get into Heaven?” The boy thought it over and said, “Well, I’ll run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, ‘For Heaven’s sake, Dylan, come in or stay out!’”

3. A little boy was doing his math homework. He said to himself, “Two plus five, that son of a bitch is seven. Three plus six, that son of a bitch is nine….” His mother heard what he was saying and gasped, “What are you doing?” The little boy answered, “I’m doing my math homework, Mom.” “And this is how your teacher taught you to do it?” the mother asked. “Yes,” he answered. Infuriated, the mother asked the teacher the next day, “What are you teaching my son in math?” The teacher replied, “Right now, we are learning addition.” The mother asked, “And are you teaching them to say two plus two, that son of a bitch is four?” After the teacher stopped laughing, she answered, “What I taught them was, two plus two, THE SUM OF WHICH, is four.”

You never know what you might capture

This isn’t going to be a long post but I thought I would share the picture of the spider web that I got the other day. I am so happy I had my camera with me because I checked back today and it was gone! This is a cool image…but I hate spiders! LOL

A little vent! Literally!

I was in the kitchen cleaning up the lunch mess, when I realized that it was a little quiet in the house for having two toddlers running about. Bubs comes running in talking about blocks. He kept repeating blocks, blocks, blocks! So I was thinking ok, he wants me to open his bin with blocks, so he can play. I go into the play room and there is Monkey with the floor vent open, and all the blocks are missing in action! This has been a constant battle, and they always manage to get the vent off without a peep! You would think it would make a lot of noise.

I have gotten out the trusty vacuum numerous times to snake the hose down the vent to suck up anything I could get. I think I have removed an entire toy box at times, and even had those moments where I say “so that’s where that went!” There are still some lost toys, I can get a pic with my camera, but they are too far to reach..I wonder how you get these things out. If you have a suggestion…please enlighten me! In the meantime, I will be super gluing them to the floor…the vents and not the kids lol!
