Little rascals can be soo charming!

Well I thought I would share a new funny thing that Monkey is doing. This is a prime example of just how smart your toddler can be LOL. Whenever Monkey is busy doing something that he isn’t supposed to be, he has figured out a way in his mind to pretend he isn’t doing anything. If you call his name in that parental tone, or ask him what he is doing, he will quickly say “Hi!” and squint his little eyes and give you this cheesy grin. He has already figured out how to manipulate the situation in his little mind. Sometimes it makes it very hard for me to maintain a straight face because it is so incredibly funny to me. He is such a little stinker and ohh so smart! I keep telling my husband that we are gonna be in trouble. It will be Monkey thinking up all the things to do, and he will be sending his brother Bubs to do them all. It is soo funny how different the two of them are. Double trouble indeed!

I dont do bugs!

I am not sure what is up with the bugs this year! I normally am happy to be outside, but lately I have just had enough. I guess it is all the rain we have been having? I have already had three ticks on me.. yuck!
Right now my husband and I have Japanese Beetle traps out. They are the things that are grubs in your lawn, and become these beastly looking things. They are all over my rose bush outside.

So we put up these trap things, that have some sort of scent lure and they can’t fly very well and get stuck. We have already caught a few thousand of these things. Speaking of not flying well, I had the not so lucky privilege of having one stuck in my hair! EEK! Now I can handle bugs, as long as they leave me alone!

The story goes…

My husband and the boys and some friends of ours were outside, while I came inside to finish up dinner. I am busy washing the strawberries and I hear a buzzing. So by now I’m sensing there is something in my hair. I instantly start to panic and I reach up with a paper towel and I can feel it there! So I turn my head upside down and I’m already screaming…(nobody in the house but me). Here I am doing something akin to an Indian rain dance, trying to untangle this beast from my hair! I finally managed to get it out, just shy of a heart attack and everyone coming back in. My heart was pounding and I am seriously considering shaving my head LOL!

Anyway, thats my story and I’m sticking to it. I DON’T DO BUGS! Goodness what am I gonna do when my boys start bringing them home to me as gifts? I will pray very hard for this not to happen!

I GOTCHU!

The boys are growing leaps and bounds in their development, and more noticeably in their vocabulary. It was like all of a sudden they woke up talking! Their favorite thing to play now it I gotchu! It is so cute to watch because they come up to me and try and tickle me and say I GOTCHU mommy! I usually go after them and they just laugh and spit all over themselves. They get to laughing so much that eventually the only thing they can get out is I GOT before they take off running and laughing in between hiccups! LOL

Today Bubs has a new word…it is Octopus! But he pronounces it Pot-o-puts hehe…so cute!

10 things that are good for you…they might surprise you

1. Chocolate: Its a good thing because I always have it on hand here at the house LOL It’s partiularly good when the toddlers are bouncing off the walls and I need a “me” moment. The kind of chocolate that’s good for you is the dark or bitter chocolate (you can wash it down with some milk chocolate haha). It contains chemicals called polyphenols that reduce the presence of free radicals, which cause cell and DNA damage. It also protects the heart.

2. Red Wine: Well I never have really liked alcohol of any kind. Now folks this doesn’t mean get slopping drunk. Polyphenols are the key – chemicals such as tannins and flavonoids in the grape skin and seeds that are powerful antioxidants.

3. Stress: SAY WHAT?!!! Ok, well long term stress is no good, but short bursts are good for the whole “fight or flight”…used to help keep men protected against predators…does that mean my kids are the predators? LOL!

4. Ice cream: WOOOHOOOO! Ice cream is low GI, which means it releases its sugar gradually into your blood after you’ve eaten it, which means you’re not left wanting another pint lol. Bring on the Ben & Jerry’s. I can handle this one folks!

5. White bread: White bread flour is fortified with calcium and iron as well as B1 and niacin. And because white bread has less fiber, it means that more of the calcium is absorbed. As a rule you should stick with whole grain breads…but at least white bread isnt totally bad for you

6. Work: Ugh makes me feel tired. But work helps you stay healthy. It helps reinforce your sense of social worth and extending your life expectancy. Guess the houseworkk isn’t totally thankless LOL

7. Coffee: Well that’s a yuck for me. Coffee contains antioxidates, and tannins which help unblock the arteries and protects the heart. It’s also good for the liver to protect against cirrhosis. One cup a day lowers your risk by 20%!

8. Baked beans: Yummy! Genuinely just good for the heart and I would imagine high in protein. Break out the Beano folks…they aren’t without some downwind risk! LOL

9. Guinness: Not the book…the beer. Yuck! Apparently a pint of the dark black stuff is much like a daily aspirin.

10. Newspaper Lists: Apparently reading long lists in papers helps with stress..go figure.

My Babies are turning two!

I can’t believe how fast the time is flying! In less than two weeks my sweet baby boys will be two. It seems like just yesterday, I was was holding their tiny little hands in mine, waking up for all those feedings and diaper changes, and now they are becoming such independent little guys. I was just telling my sister-in-law, that I am going to dread the day I have to send them to kindergarten. I think it is going to be harder on their mommy than them.

So now I am busy doing some shopping for their gifts, going through the toys they are bored with, and planning their special day. We wont be celebrating on their exact birthday, but they won’t notice lol. Both of them love Blues Clues, so this will be their cake this year. It will be a small get together but as long as there are balloons…they will be thrilled HA!

Snoring down the house!

I am sure I am not the only one who lives with a snorer. My dear husband has snored as long as I have known him, and recently I had to kick him out of our room because the walls began to rattle lol!

He is an allergy sufferer, and I think this time of the year makes the snoring worse. I have spent many nights tossing and turning, listening to the myriad of sounds he makes.

You know how it goes….you start out with a friendly lil tap on the shoulder and the snoring stops for a few seconds (long enough to get yourself comfortable), and then you start to hear the subtle zzzz coming back. As it gets louder, you try another tactic…give the covers a yank, to shake him around a bit. LOL! It works for approximately 60 seconds and then you are back to square one. Then I make the concerted effort to politely ask him to roll over, but first you have to get him to understand what you are saying! After he rolls over, it all stops for about 5 minutes, and then it begins all over again but much louder than before. So, for 45 minutes I am laying in bed trying to devise a tactical plan, when I finally smack my husband and tell him to move! He then proceeds to tell me “Hon, I don’t know what you’re talking about…I was awake the whole time!” Here we are arguing in the dark whether or not he was awake or not…LOL!

Anyway I ran across an article…maybe it will help some poor soul out there who lives with a snorer.

9 Ways to Help You Stop Snoring

Getting Organized

So here I am at the boys nap time again! I am busy looking at all my stuff to do, and the list has begun to exhaust me. For all the Moms out there, you know that your job is never done. If you think you have the laundry finished, you can blink and another load will reproduce itself! Thankfully, today I have dinner going in the crockpot and well, the laundry is sorted but isn’t looking very inviting LOL!

Ive decided that I need to organize this place! I feel like it is already somewhat organized, with the exception of the toolboxes…and yes, people I use the tools in the house….women can fix things too! My husband likes to tease me by saying “not bad for a girl!” I am never one to just sit and look at something for very long without taking action. The internet is a great place for information!

So, I need to figure out how to organize things! I hate clutter in the house. I think I have the boys’ playroom pretty organized except when they dump everything. Then it looks like Toys R Us barfed in the place, but that’s just part of their growth and development. We are working on picking up after ourselves, but for them, after they pick it up, its wayyyy more fun to dump it again. That will come with time I suppose. Id rather see them enjoying their things.

So now I am in search of things to organize my life more. I will get back to you all and let you know what I find! If you don’t see me, I am lost in a pile of stuff..I may need to be rescued! LOL

To Paint or Not to Paint..That is the question.

So I am a stay at home mom and I am really busy most days. Well I have these huge vaulted ceilings and walls that you really cannot paint yourself..it would take scaffolding to get everywhere and I don’t like heights! So I have been staring at the walls that are mostly white and really think they need some color! The boys playroom (dining room) has normal height walls…and the kitchen as two walls that are regular height so Im thinking about a color for there. What are good trendy colors for the kitchen??? I dunno whats in these days! I dont want loud or obnoxious! Things that make you go hmmmm.

Back from the conservatory!

Well, we got a beautiful day for the blooms and butterflies exhibit! The butterflies were stunning, although there were several space hogs at the exhibit grrrr! Apparently, if you dont have a six foot lens like these folks did, you weren’t worthy of occupying space LOL! If you all can envision me standing there patiently waiting for a shot..I see a butterfly and these weirdos notice I have a good shot, and they slowly stalk and encroach on my turf HA HA! I was a little spooked by these individuals…Im like there are 50 other locations in this space…get your own leaf man! Anyway, here are some of the pictures I got, I also included the glass sculpture that was in the conservatory…very cool!
