Bugabike for your little bug

Bugabike is a balance bike or running bike, and up until recently I have never heard of these things. Apparently, these bikes are becoming very popular! When you look at them, you will quickly notice that there are no pedals. My husband and I, just stood there looking at these bikes scratching our heads as to how these would be beneficial to the boys. In Europe, these bikes are very popular, but are fairly new here in the States.

The whole idea behind the Bugabike is that a child can learn to balance before he is able to actually pedal a bike. The theory is that they can learn to ride a regular bike much quicker this way. The child is able to ride on the bike and gradually get to a point where they are able to lift their feet and balance. This makes transitioning to a regular bike easier and eliminates the need for training wheels.

Designed by Sabamba, the Bugabike has a wood frame and rubber wheels. The frame of the bikes are designed on a computer and each piece of wood is carefully selected and then goes through a lengthy process of laminating, sanding and correcting for perfection. The process is quite impressive and you can read about it on their site. The bike only weighs a mere 8lbs and can be taken anywhere which is nice! The bike’s assembly took my husband only seconds to put together so you aren’t sitting there for 3 hours trying to assemble a bike that your child is anxious to ride. Trust me with twin 2 yr olds this is a plus.

The Bugabike is fully adjustable. It will adjust to fit children from ages 2 to 6 and they even offer an extension for either very tall children or older children who still love their Bugabike.

You can find the Bugabike at Amazon and at their site and it has a lot of colors to choose from. So get one for your little bug and toss the training wheels! There is a new bike in town!

Aden and Anais…Australian Muslin Baby Wraps

I just recently got the privilege of reviewing a product that, I wished that I had when I brought the boys home from the hospital. Both of my lil guys were preemies and loved to be swaddled up snugly in their blankets, but we could never keep the regular blankets on them.

Aden and Anais are Australian mothers who moved here to the United States and were in search of the muslin wraps that are a staple in Australia, amongst new mothers. There was nothing here in the U.S. that was big enough and breathable enough to securely swaddle a baby. So they decided to make their own.

The muslin isn’t a heavy, and is a soft, lightweight material, which allows for airflow and prevents your baby from overheating. The wraps can be used not only for swaddling but as a cover for you and your baby while nursing in public, a shade cover for your stroller, or even a blanket to put down while you are at the park, or just as an area to play on.

If you are expecting a little bundle of joy, why not bundle them in a wonderful muslin baby wrap from Aden and Anais? Their wraps come in packages of 2 for ($29.95) or 4 for ($44).

Jack and Ozzy Clothing for Boys

I am always on the lookout for clothes for boys. It seems as if the clothing racks at the stores are mostly occupied by girls clothing, which pretty much makes your choices limited. I think boys clothes are just as cute and I think they should make more of them!

While I was out browsing for some clothes for the boys, I ran across Jack and Ozzy. They are a small Santa Barbara company consisting of Moms of all boys! They make cool shirts for your special little guy. All of their shirts designs are hand drawn and then screen printed on shirts made here in the U.S. Their designs are simple and not obnoxious, and carry the right amount of the fashionable, cool/hip factor. I like the fact that they are versatile too…all their shirts can be easily matched with a wide variety of things in your child’s wardrobe.  Each shirt is 100% cotton and wash up nicely!

If you are looking for fun shirts with flair for your little guy …just check out Jack and Ozzy!

Zosephine Diaper Bags…carry stuff for baby in style

I just recently received a Zosephine diaper bag, the exact one that was gifted to Angelina Jolie!

Finding diaper bags that accommodate all your baby’s essentials but look discreet and stylish are sometimes hard to find. Often times the bags that are available, seem to be lacking in the style department. Bags with cutsie bunnies, obnoxious color schemes, and bags that are way over sized just seem less than appealing this day in age. I know as a mom, I look for things that are practical, functional, and have a little bit of flare. I love being a mom, but that doesn’t mean I have to be unfashionable.

Zosephine diaper bags have modern styling and hold everything you need for baby and then some. Each bag is constructed with an easy to clean nylon lining, has plenty of pockets, key clip, and a nylon changing pad. My favorite feature, is the cell phone pocket which is easily accessible just under the flap. The back of the bag even has a place to put a favorite book.

I love the small swatch of fabric on the front of the bag, it gives the bag subtle interest and is pleasing to the eye. The shoulder strap is nice and wide and sits comfortably on your shoulder, another must, when you are running around with little ones. I love everything about this bag, and can see myself using it well after the diapering days.

Check out Zosephine diaper bags and show off your hip mama side.

Nowali…It’s a moccasin and a sock!

I just recently ran across Nowali socks/moccasins. When it is particularly cool in the house or during the winter months I am always in search of slippers for the boys. Most of the slippers I have run across are either too big and bulky or fall off their feet.

We have mostly hardwood floors in the house, so if I just put on regular socks, someone undoubtedly would slip and fall. I needed something that is a happy medium that wouldn’t get in the way of their little feet, and afford them some traction.

I ran across Nowali Moccasin/Socks and they are absolutely wonderful and fit the bill perfectly. They are basically socks that are moccasins. Nowali Moccasins are made in Sweden, have soft leather soles so their little feet can move freely, double elastic at the ankle keeps them in place, and the bottoms are non-skid, and you can toss them in the washing machine! They come in a bunch of adorable prints and patterns, so you have lots to choose from. These are a perfect stocking stuffer or baby gift not only practical but unique and affordable.

Little Jet Set….Traveling and Keeping Them Busy

Traveling anywhere with toddlers can be a challenge, and even more so when you have two of them to deal with! I am almost always in search of things in which I can bring with us to restaurants, in the car, or to places where there isn’t much for the boys to do. It is difficult because often times toddlers have such a short attention span.

I recently ran across Little Jet Set and they have tons of things for your little traveler. They have everything you would need to make travel a breeze with your little one. They have some really fun travel toys too!

We recently got to try out the Zip and Zoom first puzzle by Mudpuppy ($10). It has four puzzles in the box, each with four pieces. The pieces are a nice size, and perfect for little hands. You can take this just about anywhere, and it will keep them busy for a long time. I just store my puzzle pieces in a ziploc in my diaper bag, and when we are out, it gives them something fun to do. They love the bright colors and trying to figure out where the pieces go.

Another fun activity toy is The Aquarium Travel Playhouse by Latitude Enfant ($30). This adorable soft, zippered activity toy is perfect for long trips, and visits to Grandma’s house. Inside the soft case is a whole new world of exploration. Your little one can fish and catch one of four fish with the soft magnetic fishing rod, have fun with a memory and matching game, or feed the fish through imaginative play. My two love being able to snatch up a fish or two with the magnetic rod. It not only teaches them coordination skills, but cognitive skills as well.

At Little Jet Set you find tons of things to make travel a breeze and helpful hints too. Little Jet Set was put in place by Moms who know what it is like to travel with little kids. It’s well worth the visit and it will save a lot of headaches in the long run if you travel with a few tricks up your sleeve.

Kee-Ka..Ohh so soft organic cotton

July 29, 2008 by

I just recently received two adorable t-shirts from Kee-Ka for the boys. At Kee-Ka all of their stuff is made from organic cotton.

What is organic cotton?
Organic cotton starts with organic farming practices, which use seeds that haven’t been genetically modified or treated with pesticides. Pest control is accomplished through the use of natural predators and other natural practices. From growth through harvest, the process is monitored according to a set of Organic Growing Standards adopted by governmental bodies.

Is organic cotton softer and more durable?
Since organic cotton plants aren’t bombarded with toxic chemicals they tend to produce longer fibers, which yield stronger yarn and more durable fabrics. Pesticide-free long cotton fiber also feels softer, more breathable and luxurious against the skin.

I am extremely picky when it comes to clothing for the boys. I am one who has to touch and feel the stuff before I buy it. I hate clothing that has a chemical smell, clothes that are scratchy and irritating to the skin, and one’s that don’t feel any softer after you wash them. This is what makes the clothes from Kee-Ka so appealing. Not only that, organic cotton is gentle on the skin, there are no harsh chemicals. This is definitely a plus for young sensitive skin.

The boy’s shirts came in the cutest little boxes. Kee-Ka’s trademarked little brown boxes are made from recycled paper and are designed so you can easily mail a Kee-Ka gift to your favorite baby: The box lid has flaps that you pull out, moisten and seal to the bottom of the box. Then, you simply address the box, add stamps and drop it in the mail! They even tell you the amount of postage you will need to mail one in the USA.

At Kee-Ka they believe in crafting fashionable products in socially and ecologically responsible ways: using 100% certified organic cotton and low-impact dyes, as well as working with Fair Trade and Fair Wage suppliers around the world.

These two shirts have easily become favorites of mine. They are so soft and the boys love being in them. I have washed them 2 times already and they come out beautifully. The boys love to snuggle up on the couch and watch t.v in their diapers and tiger and monkey t-shirts ($24) from Kee-Ka. So sweet!

I would definitely recommend something from Kee-Ka for your special little someone, or as a special gift. For a limited time Kee-Ka is offering DoubleBugs 15% of your entire purchase. Just enter the coupon code DBUGSWEB at checkout. Offer valid until September 15, 2008.

Keeping Clutter in Check with Klutter Katchers!

July 28, 2008 by

I have recently started re-organizing our dining room or the boy’s play room. I have decided to give it a fresh coat of paint and get all their toys in check. If you have young children you know what I am talking about when I talk about a trail of toys all over the place!

I have been searching for some sort of solution to organize all their little things, like blocks, and cars and little people, to where these things are contained yet my boys can see what’s there. I currently have everything in bins but you cannot see through them, so they forget what is in there.

I ran across Kids Klutter Katchers and thought I would give them a try. I love these things, because they are durable mesh and you can see through them. They hold blocks, cars, puzzle pieces, train track, drawing supplies, you name it…the possibilities are endless. They are great for other clutter in the house as well. Definitely worth having on hand for organizing the place!

If you are looking for organization this is a good place to start.

For a limited time at Kids Klutter Katchers you can use coupon code 3FREEDB at checkout to receive 3 free Kids Klutter Katchers zippered mesh fabric toy bags with the purchase of 15 or more! Expires 10/1/08.
